If you have a dispute with your employer, but you don't want to go to court, there are other options available to you.
One of these options is mediation. Mediation involves an independent, impartial and qualified third party assisting you and your employer to resolve the dispute.

The adult state minimum weekly wage will be increased by $17.50 to $587.20 per week from 1 July 2010. For more information on the decision click here.

The Employment Dispute Resolution Act 2008 is new legislation that enables employers and employees in Western Australia to seek mediation services of the WAIRC to prevent or resolve workplace disputes. The new Act allows the WAIRC to offer a service that is voluntary, involves minimal expense, is easy to initiate and is available to employers, unions and employees who want to use it. It is even available to those covered by Commonwealth agreements.
